Adragna Pet Food and Acciaierie Siciliane: Together for Values, Solidarity and Animal Welfare
Alcamo, May 30, 2025 – On May 29, Adragna Pet Food proudly participated in a special event hosted at Acciaierie Siciliane, strengthening its commitment to social responsibility, the environment and animal welfare. The meeting saw the participation of the associations “Laura Vive in Me” and “Teg for Friends“, creating a moment of shared values and concrete actions.
The Adragna Pet Food staff retraced the company’s history, a Sicilian reality with over 50 years of experience, always anchored to ethical and sustainable principles. Today, as a Benefit Corporation, Adragna Pet Food statutorily integrates purposes of positive impact on society and the environment, translating them into concrete initiatives in favor of communities and animals.
During the event, Adragna donated 500 kg of pet food to the “Teg for Friends” association, which has been dedicated for years to caring for the numerous abandoned dogs present in the steelworks area, ensuring them food, care and dignity. Additionally, “solidarity” discount vouchers were distributed to the steelworks employees: their use will allow funds to be raised to donate additional product to the “Teg for Friends” Association.
A story that moves and inspires: Giovanna Zizzo’s speech
A particularly touching moment was the speech by Giovanna Zizzo, founder of the “Laura Vive in Me” association. Giovanna shared the story of her daughter Laura Russo, a child of only 11 years who tragically passed away on August 22, 2014. In her school essays, Laura dreamed of a cleaner and happier world, where young people could meet, play sports, find listening ears and take care of abandoned animals.
This dream, born in the heart of a child from San Giovanni La Punta (CT), lives today thanks to the courage of her mother who, despite the pain and initial lack of solidarity, chose to transform the tragedy into a project of love, aggregation and hope.
The “Laura Vive in Me” association is a community center for young people, a place of listening, education and care, where empathy towards human beings and animals is the foundation of a new community model. Giovanna’s presence represented the emotional bond between the two Sicilian business realities, as if Laura, through her, had made all this possible.
